about

“France” is a poem from Gertrude Stein’s “Geography and Plays” composed of 93 sections. Treating it like a composer’s score, I recorded my voice reading “France.” The audio was digitally processed using filters, delay, and resonators, and voice-transformer. All sounds originate from the human voice. No analog or digital instruments were used.

This arrangement further this liberation of meaning by projecting her paper-canvas onto a three-dimensional audio space where phonemes are free to boogie and syntax can carom like subatomic billiard balls and re-combine into new associations of meanings.
